A Nice Man by SvenjaLiv A Nice Man by SvenjaLiv
I did this a few months ago and never got around to scanning and merging it until now. Han and Leia again, who else. :aww: I was experimenting with a slightly different style - more clean lines and contrast, less shading - and this reference was perfect for it. I'm happy with the result and I hope you like it, too!

The edges are like that because I burned them; the few darker stains you see are burn marks, too. Yes, that was on purpose. :giggle:

Media: Black pen and pencil on coffee-stained watercolour paper.
Time: 5 hours.
Reference: Promo still from Empire.
Dimensions: Slightly wider than A4.

Note: Don't take this and claim it's yours. If you want to use it anywhere, ask permission, and credit me in some form.

Star Wars belongs to George Lucas.

Thanks - the edges were so fun to do, it's not every day you get to burn stuff for artistic purposes... :giggle:

Well, just don't do it on the carpet or something. I think I actually took mine outside, burned paper stinks. :D Good luck though, and have fun!

I like the sharpness, the whole picture works well together.

Is it difficult, though, to burn the edges like that? Do you need to wet the paper or something...?

Thanks, the clean lines were fun to do for a change! :D The edges were actually pretty easy. Paper doesn't burn that fast when you light it a bit at a time with a lighter, so it's easy to let it burn in a bit and then blow it out. You get the jagged effect pretty much automatically when the flame goes out and the ash crumbles. I didn't wet the paper and I've never had problems, so yeah!
