Sooo I got distracted and wanted to see if I could do a quick painting instead of my usual painstakingly careful stuff. This took me about an hour, which is pretty quick for my standards, and I'm quite happy with it. So that's a win. And it's also Han, whom I haven't drawn/painted in a while, so - double win.

I love the expression in this shot. :XD: In over his head as usual and doing his best to snark it away. Enjoy!

Oh, and yes, I painted this from scratch. No tracing or painting over a reference.

Media: Adobe Photoshop, Wacom Bamboo tablet.
Time: ~ 1 hour.
Reference: Still from Empire.

How can you do something this good in just one hour? :faint:
It looks really cool, especially the hair.

I'd still need forever for that. I tend to get lost in details and then the picture usually turns out different from the reference. ;P

Oh, yeah, I always have to fight that tendency in myself too. I've been teaching myself to start rough, very rough - it helps if I intentionally blur my eyes when I look at the reference - and work towards details.

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll try that in a future pic.

Fantastic speedpaint! I must practice painting from movies, because I have to add depth to my works. :)

Thanks so much! Yeah, copying references is a great way to learn about contrast, tone, and depth. :)

I know, but I am a bit lazy when it comes to that. I just like to draw stuff directly from my head. But I will change that- all in the name of progress. ;)
