Rebel Dream comic - 2 of 2 by SvenjaLiv Rebel Dream comic - 2 of 2 by SvenjaLiv
Finally, the second page of my illustration of a scene from the NJO novel Rebel Dream, by Aaron Allston, pp. 244-247. Jaina and Jag have gone into the conference room, and Jaina gets ready to face Jag's berating and accusations. Although of course, it doesn't quite go as she expects...

I think that again, the art gets better towards the end. It's been fun! I hope you guys like it, let me know what you think!

Media: Black pigment liner on sketch paper; contrast fixed in Photoshop.
Time: 8 hours or so.
Dimensions: A4.
References: Rebel Dream for the script and story. Some Rogue Squadron comics for flight suits, Baron Fel, and an idea of how it's meant to be done.

I had such a hard time with this series of books but *this* part made it worth it to me and it's great as a comic. :D

Me too! I don't like them at all... in general. Jag/Jaina was one of the bright spots, along with Anakin's character. Glad you like the comic! <3

This is so... well... awww (if you know what I mean ;P)
I love how well you portrayed the emotions, especially on Jaina. The panels when she starts crying and when Jag is cupping her chin in his hand are my favorites. Great job!

Hehe, yeah, I do! I'm glad you can see the emotions, that's really cool. Aww is the word. :D Thank you!

Awesome, you continued it! :D (I thought you'd stopped at page 1). You chose a very good scene to illustrate, and did a great job. If you'd continued to a third page, you could've milked the drama of Jaina and Jag kissing for all it was worth by giving it the entire page, but it works well enough as a two part comic like this. That panel where Jag goes "answer me" came out very well: side profiles are a pain to draw (at least they are for me!), but you pulled it off nicely there.

Have you sent this to Aaron Allston? (Both pages). He's a really nice guy, and he's always very cheery in his emails. I think he'd like this. ;)

Well, I had to bring it to its positive conclusion, didn't I? :D I don't know if I could manage an entire page full of just different kissing scenes... although it'd be interesting to try. *lol* That said, I did end up drawing what I suppose could be a "followup scene" to this... I'm uploading it as I type this. Thank you - side profiles can be really awkward. I'm glad they behaved for me this time!

I haven't! That hadn't occurred to me. I may go and do that then... thanks for the idea! :D

Oh lawd no!   Not an ENTIRE PAGE full of different kissing scenes! Just that one scene of them kissing! [It's like... with an entire page just given to that one pose, the empty space around them would make one feel that the kiss is everything, all-encompassing, the *only* thing that matters to them at that moment. If that makes any sense!] I think a whole page of Jaina and Jag snogging each other's heads off would be laugh-out-loud hilarious, and thus ruin the drama.

Well, TV told me that kissing scenes must be shown at great length and from lots of different angles. It's only a matter of time before comics cop onto this idea... well, okay, maybe not. That might be pushing it. Although it'd totally work for a parody piece. :D

But yes, that makes sense. It'd be kind of nice. Now if only I could draw kissing couples... you'll notice I kind of copped out of it here! :giggle:
